# new macOS app to make apple notes AI ready

Hi everyone,

I’ve just released new app for macOS. it’s called alto.index and you can get it from the App Store <https://apps.apple.com/us/app/alto-index/id6746674846?mt=12>.

There are more details about it here https://altoindex.com/, but briefly:

it’s a paid macOS application that allow you to export all your apple notes, iMessage conversations, contacts as markdown files on your filesystem(your data stays on your macOS).

Why is it important? Because you can use any AI tool to interact with those markdown files.

Eg I use Claude Code a lot and I’m able to use prompts/questions like this:


“give me links to design notes on interior design”

"find me ukulele songs I want to learn”

"can you plot it number of notes created by day in the past 90 days?”

“find my flights”


There are countless use cases really. I will post soon some tutorials on how I use it.

This is a day one for this tool. But I will add support for Apple Mail, Apple Reminders, Apple Calendar, Apple Voice.

Basically all the native data will be AI-ready.
