Anton here.

I finally was able to port most of the functionality from Montaigne to Alto.

Longer term plan is following:

1. Alto is going to be in the beta for few more weeks.
2. After that I’ll add payments for custom domains. So you can still request custom domains for free for now.


How this will impact Montaigne?

After Alto works as I want it to work I will stop free plan on Montaigne for new users(nothing will change for existing ones).
If people want to use publishing for free they can use Alto. If they don’t want Alto - they can pay for Montaigne.

Why this change? Because in the last year Montaigne got a lot of new customers and that impacted sync times for everyone. So I’d rather Montaigne has less users in total and more paying ones.

And because Alto is made differently amount of free users have no impact on the performance of the service.
